Why I like Vanilla.
Taste, if there wasn’t taste, there wouldn’t be any flavor. Taste is defined to try or test the flavor or quality of (something) by taking some into the mouth, according to dictionary.com. So when I was about 8 years old, in school I remembered that it was Sherice’s birthday party. It was in the basement because that was where the cafeteria was located. I had this one piece of cake that changed the way I tasted things in a whole new way.
I remember walking to school every morning with my little brother, it was the same every day. We both always had Tootsie Roll POP’s because we liked the chocolate inside. I loved chocolate. Every time my mom would make cake I would tell her if she could make chocolate cake or at least put chocolate frosting on it, and she would do just that. But when I arrived at my school I would go to all my classes and never liked going to school. I didn’t even like the cafeteria because it was in the basement and the reason was that I was as lazy then as I am now. But there was this one day that it was my best friend’s birthday, Sherice as her name. That day I remember the teacher telling us “Class I have an announcement,” but before she finished her statement she told Sherice to go to Mr. Birdie’s room.
“Why, did I do something wrong?” Sherice asked.
“Of course not, everything is ok, I just need you to get something that I printed out but forgot to pick it up,” said Ms. Morton.
“Ok I’ll run and come back quick” said Sherice.
As soon as Sherice left Ms. Morton told us that “we will have a surprise party for Sherice.”I was really happy because that meant that there would be chips, drinks, and cake, but more important it was for my close friend. She told us that around 12 o’ clock take her downstairs to the cafeteria. So we did just that what everyone yelled surprise, she really fainted. She woke up from that in like 1 min, we started to eat. I skipped everything just to save a lot of room for the cake. But it wasn’t chocolate it was vanilla. So I was mad and I didn’t want to be their anymore, but Sherice came up to me.
“Joel, why are you mad?” She asked me.
“It’s nothing, it’s just that I didn’t eat anything because I thought the cake was going to be chocolate not vanilla,” I said with a taste of nothing but spit in my mouth.
“Look Joel vanilla cake taste better than chocolate, seriously, if you don’t believe me then take a piece.” She said with confidence.
“NO! I like chocolate only.” I said.
“Well if you don’t believe me, then I will have to double dog dare you.” She said laughing while eating a piece of the cake.
“Ok you lucky I don’t back down from a dare, ok ill have a piece.” I said not really wanting any.
So after that point I took a piece of the cake, and my taste buds went all over the place. I didn’t know what was happening in my mouth it was like a party in my mouth. I liked in so much I ended up taking half of the cake home instead of Sherice. From that point on I never asked my mom to make chocolate cake, it was only “Can you make vanilla cake?” I eat vanilla favored cake, with vanilla frosting or even eat the icing by itself. I would put cream on anything. When I was 8 years old after I finished eating I would go get some Oreos and some vanilla Ice Cream and take a mouth full of ice cream and a whole Oreo and put it in mouth as I said in wordpress.com.
It’s like my taste buds block out any other flavor, I say that because even if I just eat white chocolate it would taste like vanilla. I don’t think it’s a bad thing because let say there is something I don’t want to eat like the taste test for example, I didn’t know what I was going to be eating so I put it in my mind that I will be something with vanilla on it. That worked for me and I think it was vanilla covered because my taste buds were as wild as that day with the cake.
